Senior citizens from the Bremen district of Osterholz are interested in the EU-project Mobile Age
- Created: 30 May 2016
Last Monday, 23rd of May 2016, the first information event about the EU-Project Mobile Age took place in the Bremen district of Osterholz. Senior citizens from the district were invited to jointly design and develop a mobile application for their district together with the ifib project team, namely Dr. Juliane Jarke, Prof. Dr. Herbert Kubicek and Ulrike Gerhard.
Mobile Age aims to contribute to the participation of senior citizen by combining open data, mobile technologies and public services. This objective will be achieved through the active involvement of senior citizens in the process of designing and developing a service application. For this purpose, ifib as part of an international consortium is going to conduct a series of participatory design workshops with elderly in Bremen. Together with senior citizens and with the involvement of local stakeholders a map based service application for the district is going to be developed in the first phase of the project. The information event on Monday was the start of this process.
Thanks to the support of the local online editorial team BORIS for the recruitment of interested senior citizens, the districts authorities’ office, where the event took place, was well-filled. Around fifteen senior citizens from Osterholz had come to learn something about the project while having coffee and cake. To get a first impression of the participants, their relation to the district and their information needs ifib project team had prepared a card game relating to the district, that was played by the senior citizens in small groups. The playful introduction led to inspiring discussions. At the end of the event most of the participants were interested to take part regularly in the project. We are pleased about the response and are hoping for ongoing interest.
